Reporting to the Manager, Product Operations, the Senior Product Manager (SPM) is responsible for managing the product portfolio for a specific market segment. This includes developing new product features, enhancements, portfolio revisions and overall product lifecycle management as needed to achieve market position, membership goals and profitability targets. The SPM position is a highly visible, self-directed position, with exposure to all levels of management and requires a high level of operational as well as strategic focus.The SPM will make recommendations to Manager on product changes that would improve competitive positioning, mitigate cost for the member or Mass General Brigham Health Plan, streamline or increase integrity of internal processes that ultimately enhances the overall consumer experience.He/she collaborates with internal departments including Sales, Finance, Actuarial, Compliance, Marketing, Corporate Communications, IT, Configuration, Provider Network Management, Project and Process Management Organization, Customer Service, and externally with Accounts, Brokers, Intermediaries and Government Agencies.

Core Functions:

  • Subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all products and product-related issues for the assigned market segment
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive decision- making and ensure end-to-end operational integrity of product implementations and/or product enhancements
  • Thorough understanding of the federal and state regulatory environment, including experience working with the Massachusetts Health Connector
  • Thorough understanding of Mass General Brigham Health Plan systems and the key dependencies and interactions of Mass General Brigham Health Plan products with the various systems as well as our key vendors
  • Serve as lead and subject matter expert for product filings, including the Evidence of Coverage, SERFF plan and benefits templates, HIOS, and Planfinder
  • Serve as Mass General Brigham Health Plan primary lead and/or participate in new product development and implementation as well as serve as lead and/or support to Sales Managers on specific employer group custom products.
  • Operate as a liaison to internal Mass General Brigham Health Plan departments, external agencies, and to third-party vendors' claims and operational departments when product-specific questions or problems arise
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Corporate Communications in the development and product collateral.Manage the updating of product sales support materials and review all product-related materials which include but is not limited to: member, employer, and provider materials for product definitions, operational process descriptions, and policies related to products
  • Prepare and conduct internal and external product-related training
  • Monitoring and reporting on ongoing performance of the product portfolio, including profitability, membership growth/retention, operational performance and customer feedback.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree required or the equivalent combination of training and experience, plus 7-10years of related experience

  • 7-10 years of product management, sales, marketing, or strategic planning, preferably at a health plan
